Surgery is done. Wanna guess what it was?
A *rock*! As in what Charlie Brown got in his Halloween bag. Most likely a sedimentary carbonate rock called dolomite. Known for its attractive sparkly white color, it is often used in decorative landscapes, or in our case, in the pot of a fake tree we have in our living room.
How the hell does a dog eat a rock? A frickin' rock!
He recovered from surgery fine, and I am told "all his organs look nice and healthy." But his blood pressure was really high, and we had been told about his heart before, so... it looks like Ahfu may be put on blood pressure meds. I didn't even know dogs could get hypertension. Maybe that's why he's so crabby. I hope the meds aren't expensive. |

Glad Afu came out of surgery ok! High BP doesn't sound so weird to me. :) My dog has acid reflux...
I bet that rocks your world.
(couldn't resist.)
YAY for Ahfu being better!!!
Hey! Those rocks are really cool looking!! I got distracted by them loads in Geology class.
Also, a note on hypertension, hypertension can be related to dogs being stressed out! (Yes, dogs get depression and anxiety and phobias just like people. ) I recomend checking out either a pet store or an herbal place for some relaxation stuff. (ie. can be cheaper than prescribtions and usually healthier in the long run) But totally ask your vet about it! just a thought....
Yay! I am so happy he pulled through. Hugs to all but no more rocks.
Dogs just eat the weirdest shit. Only vets seem to know how. Rocks, locks, socks, blankets, balls... if they can get it in their mouths, they'll eat it.
And sure, animals get all sorts of ailments you'd think only people have. Kitty's got allergies. My friend Kelly's cat has asthma. I know people who have pets with diabetes, immune deficiency diseases, nervous OCD grooming, you name it.
Glad to see Ahfu's okay though. Our pets are our furry kids. No one likes seeing their kids hurting. | |
