I had a ride to Balticon, but they canceled on me due to financial issues.

This is the deal, there's only me and two pieces of luggage. I can be picked up at any DC Metro station. I need to be there by Friday early afternoon.

Anyone going my way?

I hadn't planned to be there until later but let me talk to my boss tomorrow (and see if I can line something up in the way of getting the dog to whoever is going to watch him) and I'll let you know. I can meet you at Silver Spring Metro.

Is not optimal for me and my schedule, so count me as ride of last resort.

I can do this. If you come to the Cheverly Metro, I can grab you and we can go. This will provide incentive to get me out earlier. Let me know

got your voicemail - Sorry, at the time you called, we were soaking in the YMCA hottub.

It's a bit tricky for us to get down to pick you up. we're heading over early to get the hotel stuff straightened out and either shady grove or greenbelt is way out of the way during rush hour.

HOWEVER - it IS possible to get from metro to Balticon. I have personally done this at least 3 times.

There are two ways:
1) take metro to union station. Take marc camden line to baltimore. take baltimore light rail to hunt valley. walk about 2 blocks over to hotel.

(last camden line train out in morning is 8:05 am - option 2 might be more flexible)

2) take metro to greenbelt. take metro bus to bwi. at BWI, get transport to light rail station. take light rail to hunt valley. walk about 2 blocks over to con hotel.

Greenbelt bus is B30

Hunh! according to Wmata.com, you can also take Marc Penn line from new carrollton!

Alternative to walking over from hunt valley light rail, you could call us from the hunt valley station - we should be at the con by then and able to get you. no hour long wait this time *wry grin* we'd be mcuh closer.

Your metro smart trip card will cover the metro bus to BWI.

I recommend these sites for exact logistical planning:

http://www.wmata.com/
the light rail is $1.60 one way.

As I said, I HAVE done this. WITH luggage. Usually because I had to work & Kory had to have MSD there early and I was arriving after work.

It isn't a short/easy commute - but it can be done.
