CR is having hair regrets. His last week at school was okay, but a lot of the teachers didn't approve, and some of his friends got seriously weirded out. he has one friend who comes from a very sheltered uber-Christian family, and he took it the worst, but got over it by the end of the day (CR and I talk about him a lot, the kid's a train wreck of conflicting spirituality). The most interesting responses came from the girls. They were entranced by his hair, and constantly wanted to touch it. Even strangers at the store wanted to touch it. Girls from age 8 to 15 were just coming up to him, giggling in that shy, coy way teen and preteen girls have. IMHO, this would be a positive boon, but CR's not happy with it at all. This may seem strange, but I was the same way at his age. We're just not that kind of horny girl-craving kind of teen.
So he asked if he could shave it all off and got bald for a while, and let the normal hair grow out over the summer. We don't think that's a good idea. This will be interesting to see how this pans out. From 1990-1992, I grew long hair to give that a try, but I hated it.
