But I installed WinXP Pro on Haku today for about the same reason I own a TV set: everyone has it, its a known standard, and despite the wasteland of flashy graphics... I can’t watch my shows on anything else. I played Serious Sam II (the “straw the broke the camel’s back” as far as why I finally upgraded) and was pretty damn happy that Haku is really, really fast. I can’t wait to see his SETI stats. I also got a chance to rewire a lot of my cord tangle, and play “let’s install all the programs we need... again.”
Sadly, my cable has been flaky as of late. Like the Internet goes from shit slow to amazing speed to stopped altogether. Windows Update has been a pain in my ass, not to mention the programs I need to install. I rebooted everything: cable modem, Linux gateway, and so on, but it’s definitely not on my end. The biggest problem seems to be a DNS thing on COX’s end.
