So as you can see, I am almost done with getting things together. I have to make the end match the rest of the story, which should be TOO hard, I just have to get it done. So far it's at about 135k words, and I estimate the first draft will be 150k words, with a possible 175k when the final draft is written. To give you perspective, Lewis Carrol's "Alice in Wonderland" is only 28k, Dickens' "Tale of Two Cities" is 139k, and Tolstoi's "War and Peace" is 564k words. So, when done, the work will be roughly twice the size of Burnett's "The Secret Garden." I think this is a good, hefty size.
I finally finished the second and third to last chapters, which was the turning point in the story. I had to get this done to make sure I stayed on course for the rest of the writing. I am back to copying down notes I have made over the years, and going, "Yeah... that's changed, but I want to keep some of the clever dialogue."
