Lord of the Flies: The Reality TV series

I shit you not.

“40 Kids have 40 days to build a brave new world without adults to help or hinder their efforts. Can they do it? These Kids, ages 8-15, will turn a ghost town into their new home. They will cook their own meals, clean their own outhouses, haul their own water and even run their own businesses including the old town saloon (root beer only). Through it all, they’ll cope with regular childhood emotions and situations: homesickness, peer pressure and the urge to break every rule they’ve ever known.”

It makes me wonder what they do about medical issues, for instance, scorpion bites and bad falls on rusty nails. I am also wondering how much manipulation goes on behind the cameras. Do the producers goad the kids to respond a certain way? Are the kids actors? And my actors, I don’t necessarily mean they are faking what’s going on, but do they come from a pool of children with agents?

I am not sure if I want to watch this. It could be insightful, but it could also be a massive train wreck. When I see adults participate in reality shows, I always have that buffer of, “Well, they were dumb enough to sign up for this,” but kids? Ages range from 8 to 15. A 15 year old will have serious tactical advantage of someone below age 10 as far as social skills goes, which leads to political prowess and possible bullying. Eh... we shall see.
