I grew up to his works, and is one of the greatest influences in my sci-fi writing. My favorites were "Childhood's End" and "Songs of Distant Earth." He made it to age 90, though, which is pretty damn good. I hope they have some memorial at Balticon. If not, I'll host one. He was one of the greats along with Heinlein, Asimov, and Bradbury. Out of all of them, I only got to meet Asimov, and that was only briefly as part of the Evecon 5 security detail.
